Build a Kitchen To Be Proud Of

A new kitchen in a historical home.

The challenge here was to blend the past with the present, preserving and beautifying the charm of a historic home while providing the luxury, convenience, and functionality of modern day.

Every corner of this kitchen is perfectly planned and articulated to achieve peak opulence and convenience. Take a sneak peek into this kitchen transformation that will blow your mind!

The Kitchen Before

While incredibly beautiful, looks just scratch the surface. Sure, anything can be beautiful, but that doesn’t serve a purpose for improving lives. Because this family chose to remodel with Odell, life improvement was the focus and purpose of creating their new kitchen.

So, what makes this kitchen really great?

Optimal Counter Space

Extending the cabinets over the back wall makes better use of storage and counter space. Adding an island lends to more cabinetry as well as an eat in area, creating a multi-functional zone.

A Larger Pantry

To create more usable space, the refrigerator was moved over and cabinet depth extended. Inside the pantry, you will find pull out drawers for easier access and peak organization of all food supplies.

Wine Storage

Open shelving for wine storage provides a creative use of extra space conveniently placed near the stove because who doesn’t want a glass of wine while cooking?

Trendy Cabinets

Windsor Reserve style cabinets are used in the custom colors; Sherwin Williams Secret Cove and White Glacier. Beautiful crown molding extends the cabinetry, creating a finished look that leads your eye to the timeless tin ceiling.

Time appropriate features

Time period appropriate features such as the tin ceiling (Metallaire Hammered Border in White), register covers, and crown molding make the kitchen blend perfectly with the rest of the home to appear as if it was always meant to be. Odell’s carpenters even matched all of the original baseboards, preserving the integrity of the home while making it even more beautiful.

Butcher’s Block Island

The butcher block island is natural maple, hand crafted and oiled to bring out the depth of the wood. It adds a large area for preparing meals, additional storage, and provides an overhang to allow for seating. One may also notice the floating shelves made to match, bringing continuity throughout.

Other great kitchen features!

  • Hand Blown Pendant Lights from Bicycle Glass Co.

  • 3x12 Backsplash from Equipe Splendors in Gray

  • Motionsense kitchen faucet from Edelman’s

  • SHARP Microwave Drawer (Sleek and elegant – easy touch drawer system with hands free closure.)

  • Stainless steel canopy hood and splash guard

  • The flooring in Coretec Rocca Oak 7” wide plank

  • Cambria countertops in Southerland

The End Result?

Here we see cool blues blended with natural wood finishes to create a perfect contrast of color and materials.  The stainless steel appliances provide a clean and luxurious finish, while the time period appropriate tin ceiling and vent covers lend to a familiarity of simpler times.
